collective performance across a range of economic, social and safety, health and

agreed sustainable development goals for 2010. Download the report here. Guiding
Principles and Goals - A public commitment The CIA made a public
commitment to develop an integrated set of economic, social and environmental
goals for sustainable development by mid-2004. These goals
and the accompanying "guiding principles
for sustainable business practice" (launched on 6 July 2004) derive from
the CIA's vision for a sustainable chemical industry,
"Meeting needs and expectations". They apply to all CIA member companies. The
guiding principles and goals build on a succession of initiatives by the chemical
industry over 30 years. More... In July 2005
the Chemistry Leadership Council's (CLC) "Vision
for the Sustainable Production and Use of Chemcials" was published. This
report reinforces the need for a change of pace by the industry, which should
increse the speed at which it puts sustainable practices in place. The CIA's guiding
principles and goals are included in this report as interim measures towards long
term sustainability objectives. Consultation
and engagement with stakeholders The guiding principles and goals
were developed in cooperation with stakeholders and feedback from some of these
can be viewed here. The CIA wants constructive
dialogue to continue. “We want stakeholders to scrutinise our activities
and behaviours over the coming years, monitor our progress and help us determine
how we can meet society’s needs and expectations ever more sustainably in
the future”, said former CIA president, Alistair Steel. Your
