Director

Energy Intensive Users Group

We want a Director to lead the Energy Intensive Users’ Group (EIUG) – an industry body that works on energy policy on behalf of sectors such as steel, chemicals, paper, glass, cement, mineral products, industrial gases and ceramics.

The aim of EIUG is to work for an energy policy that is affordable and meets our environmental commitments.

The successful candidate will promote the importance of our industries to the UK’s economy and environment, communicate the views of the collective membership and develop strong working relationships with the aim of influencing our stakeholders including Government, Parliament and NGOs. Some support will be provided on political engagement. The jobholder will take the lead on developing EIUG positions for member sign-off including responding to consultations.

To do this job you will need:

  • Knowledge of the UK political system and of parliamentary and Government processes
  • Knowledge and experience of UK energy policy
  • Experience of developing positive relationships with political decision-makers and influencers
  • Experience of analysing complex policy and summarising and presenting key implications to senior stakeholders
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Project management skills

 


 

Executive - Safety, Process Safety and Health


  • Competitive salary
  • Part-time role (3 days per week), based in Westminster or remotely/home based
We have a brilliant opportunity for an Executive in our Health and Safety department under Responsible Care across the UK chemical sector.

The responsibilities include:

 

  • Manage CIA’s Process Safety focus, working with our Director of Safety & Security
  • Provide direct support to CIA member companies and assist in production of guidance in respect of safety and process safety issues and shared learning
  • Manage and provide a secretariat function for meetings of an allocated number of UK regional networks (which are divided amongst the team) including CIA’s Process Safety Network
  • Help promote the chemical industry’s ground-breaking Responsible Care initiative 
  • Work with our member companies and supply chains on Responsible Care issues
  • Contribute to CIA Responsible Care Verification (RCV) annual programme of visits to member companies
  • Contribute actively and regularly to our wider stakeholder communications for chemical sector member companies

To do this job you will need:

 

  • Knowledge and experience of safety & health issues as a practitioner
  • Experience of developing positive relationships with businesses and other stakeholders
  • Experience of analysing performance data and complex reports and summarising and presenting key implications
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
