Identifying challenges for a Sustainable Digital Society

The virtual workshop “Identifying challenges for a Sustainable Digital Society” was run on 11th June, with 52 multidisciplinary attendees across academia, industry, government and the third sector. The related Sustainable Digital Society call for proposals will be opening over the summer. The outputs of the workshop will be available in the near future; please keep an eye on the workshop webpage.

SPRITE+ Announces Digital Technologies, Power & Control Challenge Working Group

The Digital Technologies, Power and Control Challenge Working Group is led by Dr Lara Frumkin (The Open University), Dr Kovila Coopamootoo (Newcastle University), Dr Sabine Little (University of Sheffield) and Dr Vitor Jesus (Birmingham City University).

The group employs an action research model to solicit wide participation in societal decisions relying on theory, research and current practice from multiple academic and non-academic perspectives.

Securing Digital Technologies at the Periphery (SDTaP) Funding - PETRAS 2nd Strategic Research Fund (SRF) Call

The PETRAS National Centre of Excellence for Internet of Things (IoT) Systems Cybersecurity, as part of UK Research and Innovation’s (UKRI) Securing Digital Technologies at the Periphery (SDTaP) programme funded by the Strategic Priorities Fund, is delighted to announce the launch of the 2nd Strategic Research Fund (SRF) call for proposals. Through this call, the Centre is making funds available of up to £4.5 million to eligible UK Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to support a maximum of 20 new collaborative research projects (18 months maximum duration).

Closing date for intentions to bid:  09 September 2020 at 09:00.

Call for Participants in a three-day Sandpit focused on Digital Technologies for Health and Care

UKRI are pleased to invite participants to apply to attend a sandpit between 10-12 November 2020 on Digital Technologies for Health and Care. Whilst the current plan is for the sandpit to be held in-person near Guildford, Surrey, we are considering alternative options due to the current situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, as the health and well-being of the sandpit participants is our top priority. This may involve moving the sandpit online to a virtual environment. Confirmed details will be made available as soon as possible.

NEH/AHRC New Directions for Digital Scholarship in Cultural Institutions

This is a joint initiative between AHRC and the US National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), funded through UKRI’s Fund for International Collaboration. The programme aims to advance digital scholarship in cultural heritage organisations such as museums, libraries, galleries, and archives.

Funding will support collaborative teams in the UK and US that have the potential to deliver a transformational impact on digital methods and digital research in cultural institutions.
