(1pm - 4pm)
Our first speaker at the event will be Dr Kathryn Simpson, Senior Lecturer in Political Economy, Manchester Metropolitan University.
2018 was the year of Brexit decisions: the transition period, the UK’s future relationship with the EU, and how to avoid the implementation of a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Yet, with a matter of months to go until the UK leaves the European Union in March 2019, much is yet to be decided. Continued analysis of survey and polling data demonstrates that the UK electorate is inherently fragmented on a range of political and policy issues pertaining to Brexit.
By examining each of the key Brexit decisions in 2018, Dr Kathryn Simpson, Associate Professor in Political Economy at Manchester Metropolitan University will outline the current state of play in Brexit negotiations, determining what is next for the future relationship between the UK, the EU, and what to expect ahead of Brexit Day on 29th March 2019.
