Who should attend?
This event is aimed at importers, manufacturers, and retailers of articles, whether as finished products or for further assembly within the EU/UK, who need to gain a better understanding of their obligations under REACH and how to comply
- Do you know what an SVHC is?
- Have you heard of the Candidate List?
- Do your products contain substances on the Candidate List?
- Do your products release substances which need to be registered?
- Will you be obliged to notify the Agency about any substances?
If you need to know the answer to any of these questions, and learn some practical “next steps”, then this is the workshop for you. This event will be of value to anyone who is managing the REACH compliance activities of the supply chain within their company.
Why attend?
REACH applies in certain cases to “articles”, which means pretty much anything that isn’t a chemical: clothing, furniture, motor vehicle parts etc. Every product is made from substances, and substances in articles need to be “registered” if they are intended to be released.
As part of REACH, the inclusion of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) in the Candidate List has raised fears amongst importers and suppliers of how to identify articles which may contain 0.1% of a substance on the list.
Furthermore, you may have obligations under REACH to tell not only your customers about the presence of these substances, but also to notify the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) or the UKREACH Agency (HSE). While imports into the EU must be EU REACH compliant, manufacturing and importing articles into Great Britain (GB) are subject to UK REACH.
This means separate obligations apply to duty holders based in GB, as UK REACH and EU REACH work independently from each other.
