Standard Operating Procedures should be the solid foundation upon which we build our business activities, but only too frequently it is an unstable foundation.  Our Procedures are often long winded and hard to read, we have poor adherence, people's interpretation can be very different, and so our processes become variable impacting on quality, cost, productivity, delivery and safety.
