RESPONSIBLE CARE AND HSE EXECUTIVE

Competitive salary and benefits

We are looking to fill an exciting and challenging role within our Chemicals Policy and HSE team. The role is for a Policy Executive to support the CIA’s work with its members to continuously improve the health, safety and environmental performance of our sites through our Responsible Care programme. The policy executive will have a particular interest in water policy – including abstraction and the Water Framework Directive as well as an interest in occupational health and site safety issues. This is an ideal position for someone who has held an HSE role on a small chemical site.

The position involves engaging with member companies to improve HSE performance, develop guidance, and represent the sector’s interests in developments in policy at UK government and EU levels. You will play a key role in ensuring a constructive relationship with our EHS regulators across all operational issues.

The ideal/preferred candidate will be a good communicator, able to work with a wide range of stakeholders including our member companies, Government and Civil Service officials as well as regulators. The individual would ideally possess a science-based degree and have worked at a managerial level with experience gained from within a chemical processing/manufacturing business with a close working knowledge of current health, safety and environment regulation. The candidate will have a pragmatic, diplomatic and flexible approach, and work comfortably in a team environment. The work includes a degree of national and European travel.

We would consider some flexibility with work location although the successful applicant must be willing and able to travel to London at least once a week.

If you can demonstrate that you have the right skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to thrive in this role, then send your CV and covering letter, including salary expectations, to Claire Batty (BattyC@cia.org.uk).
