This Award is in remembrance of CIA’s Nick Sturgeon and is designed to honour an Unsung Hero who works or is closely connected to the chemical industry. The award will be given to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the industry over a number years. The person may not necessarily be in a senior position but will be recognised for their dedication to the industry, contribution outside ‘the day job’ and held in esteem by peers.
This Award is designed to:
- Honour the memory of Nick Sturgeon – a true unsung hero
- Recognise an individual either working in the sector or closely associated with it who has made a contribution both in the jobs they do and wider work with the industry and who may not have achieved true recognition.
The Award is open to any individual working within or closely associated with the industry and nominated by a peer. Following initial judging, applicants will be notified if they have been short-listed by 11 May 2021. The winner will be announced at the Chemical Industry Awards on 17 June and a representative from each short-listed company will receive an invitation to attend. Winning applicants should be willing to participate in publicity.
Judges will be looking for demonstration of a wide ranging contribution over a number of years. This will include achievements in both a professional capacity within the industry and in activities that support the wider aims, growth, success and reputation of the industry outside the ‘day job’.
The judging panel will consist of the CIA directors.
Entries to be made in confidence to Mike Lancaster on the Entry Form, signed by a member of the company leadership team, by 20 April 2021.
