8.30am breakfast and networking
9.00 - presentations
Our first presenter will be from Catalyst Science Discovery Centre giving an update on the centre and future plans.
We will also have Ian Crummack, CEO of Cobalt Energy presenting on the topic of the differences between EPC and EPCm contracting models, focusing on how risk, cost and project responsibility are allocated. It will explain the advantages and limitations of each approach, including the cost premium and single-point accountability offered by EPC, versus the greater flexibility and cost efficiency of EPCm. The session will also outline Cobalt Energy’s EPCm strategy, highlighting its use of direct supplier contracting and integrated project management to deliver best value while maintaining effective control of project interfaces and delivery. Ian will also describe some previous projects where the advantages and disadvantages of both models were clearly displayed; and some ‘lessons learned’ gleaned from Ian’s experience acting as an Expert Witness in arbitration and litigation cases.
