Judges agreed Exergy3 is a prime example of a home-grown innovator who transitioned all the way through from university spin out to commercial scale, who is now helping to drive industrial transformation and support the transition to a low-carbon future.

About the winning case study 

Exergy3 has developed a world-leading thermal energy storage technology to support the decarbonisation of iindustry. The Electro-thermal energy storage (ETES) system has been over 12 years in the making, spinning out from Edinburgh university in 2021 to establish a new OEM in Edinburgh. This year Exergy3 has manufactured its first demonstration units, completed off-site testing and commenced site installation.
