SOPs - Writing Procedures – Current Best Practices
Procedures are critical documents for safely operating a process plant. Well defined, structured and consistent procedures will support reliable and repeatable operations, and form the foundation for driving continuous improvement leading to productivity gains. They are the documents new personnel should be trained against, and if well thought out will reduce the time taken for personnel to become competent.
CDOIF Environmental Risk Assessment
The Chemical and Downstream Oil Industries Forum (CDOIF) have published guidance for determining the tolerability of environmental risk at COMAH Establishments, CDOIF - Guideline Environmental Risk Tolerability for COMAH Establishments v 2.0. Operators of Upper and Lower Tier COMAH establishments are being encouraged to adopt this methodology. The training will be based on the requirements of this guidance and will lead learners through the use of presentations and workshop sessions.

Human Reliability Analysis – Reducing Human Failure in Operations and Maintenance for Safety Critical Tasks
This course will introduce the concepts and methodology of Human Reliability Analysis as it is applied to safety critical tasks – those tasks associated with a site’s major accident hazard where any error in the execution of the task may lead to an erosion of layers of protection, the defeating of layers of protection, or even exposure to a major accident hazard.
Climate Change and COMAH
The training aims to provide learners with an understanding of the potential local and global effects of climate change, to assist with the implementation of a suitable and sufficient risk assessment and adaptation plan. The training will include both presentations and workshop sessions.
Behavioural Safety – an Introduction
A behavioural safety programme aims to bring issues out into the open so they can be discussed and dealt with. This increases employee involvement and engagement – a critical aspect of Behavioural Safety.

This event provides a fast, practical introduction to managing reputational risk in a digital-first world. Delivered online by Rough House Media, the Crisis Management Masterclass shows how crises escalate, how the media responds, and what organisations need to communicate clearly under pressure. Participants will learn to assess risks, shape strong messages and holding statements, and handle both media scrutiny and online criticism with confidence.
Root Cause Analysis (DP) - Stopping problems from happening again
This course will take delegates through some principles of RCA and incident investigation processes, highlight pitfalls and challenges likely to be encountered in implementing effective RCA processes, and then provide a methodology for undertaking effective RCAs. This methodology will include how to get to true root causes without getting stuck at the superficial “human error” level; it will include models and theories that allow an investigation to dig deep into underlying, latent or systemic root causes, so addressing both the problem at hand and potential future incidents – moving RCAs from being a reactive investigation tool to a pro-active improvement methodology.
Leadership for Managers /Setting the Standards in the Process Industries
This course is specifically designed for managers in the process industries, taking into account the unique demands of managing high hazard sites, and will link in with leadership models and guidance as published by the Process Safety Leadership Group, and the OECD’s Corporate Governance for Process Safety. The course will introduce leadership theories, and will then explore how leadership is demonstrated in the workplace with practical tools and techniques that can be immediately applied upon returning to site.
Chemical Kaizen – Running Improvement Workshops in the Process Industries
Kaizen events are a way to engage and empower more of your workforce in driving continuous improvement. Engaging as much of the workforce as possible in this endeavour increases the chances of long-term success. If a business stands still, it will be lost – a business must always strive to get better, to stay ahead of the competition.
Problem Solving in Production – Applying Structured Problem-Solving Tools to Daily Issues
This course will cover a range of problem solving tools and techniques that can be used on a day to day basis to deal with issues and problems as they arise and rapidly develop actions to address them, quickly regain control, minimise disruption, and prevent repeat issues in the future. We will examine what tools and approaches are available, when to use them, when to avoid them, how to systemise the use of problem solving tools – and explore how to get the best out of the techniques.
