This year’s Business of Science Conference in Liverpool cast a spotlight on the future during its “Future Viewpoints” session and we were proud to see Jonathan Vincent, Chair of the CIA’s ChemTalent Network and winner of the 2024 CIA Young Ambassador Award, representing the voice of young professionals in the chemical industry.
Chemtalent participated at the Business of Science Conference. Lucy Jones, Sameen Barabhuiya and Jonathan Vincent
The session encouraged business leaders to listen and reflect, not only on the aspirations of the next generation, but also on what truly matters to them when it comes to shaping the UK’s innovation ecosystem.
Representing the voice of young professionals within the chemical sector, Jonathan spoke powerfully on both the challenges facing the industry and the vast opportunities that lie ahead. From artificial intelligence to emerging technologies, he spoke passionately about the need for innovation and the invaluable contributions of early-career professionals.
As Jonathan highlighted, our ability to turn bright ideas into real-world solutions is one of the UK’s greatest strengths, and it’s this strength that will drive our future as a global leader in science and innovation.
The CIA remains committed to ensuring young professionals are not just part of the conversation, but central to it. The ChemTalent initiative continues to provide a vital platform for early-career voices in shaping the direction of the industry. Jonathan was joined in Liverpool by fellow ChemTalent Committee Members Lucy Jones (Croda), Juliana Paradello (LANXESS), and Sameen Barabhuiya (Nufarm), who also actively participated in the conference.
Together, the ChemTalent team championed the diverse and rewarding career opportunities available within the chemical industry, while underlining the importance of future-focused thinking across all levels of the sector.
As the CIA continues its work through Project 2035 and beyond, amplifying the voices of future leaders remains a priority. Our engagement with the ChemTalent network will remain a cornerstone of this effort, ensuring that young professionals have the platform and support they need to shape the future of the UK chemical industry.
