Futamura - Site water demand reduced by 20% or 500m3 per day

Futamura is dedicated to optimising the sustainability of all its raw materials and reducing its environmental impact, whilst maintaining the functional properties and wide range of end-of-life options for the NatureFlex™ and Cellophane™ films produced. In order to meet future water reduction targets Futamura upgraded ageing plant by commissioning a new water treatment plant in mid-2019 to treat abstracted water prior to use in manufacturing. The new plant consists of four continuous upflow sand filters, buffer tank and lamella (solids separation) unit.
